Why doesn't anyone try to win in politics today?

In this week’s episode of Politics In Question, Matt Glassman joins James to talk 1980s movie montages and today’s political dysfunction. Glassman is a Senior Fellow at the Government Affairs Institute (GAI) at Georgetown University and a long-time friend of the podcast. He teaches courses on and off the Hill on American government, congressional processes, congressional-presidential relations, and congressional leadership. Prior to join GAI, he worked on Capitol Hill at the Congressional Research Service (CRS), where he focused on congressional operations, separation of powers, appropriations, judicial administration, agency design, and congressional history. Glassman was detailed to the House Committee on Appropriations as professional staff for the Legislative Branch Subcommittee in fiscal years 2010 and 2011.

Who would be featured in the montage in a movie about today’s politics? Does anyone truly make a difference in Congress? If so, why do they matter? How do they matter? Where do they matter? Would history really unfold differently if they weren’t involved in politics? And what is the best movie montage of all time? These are some of the questions Matt and James ask in this week’s episode.
